Jason "Tiny" Mathiesen was born on March 15, 1973 to Arlene (Hiaring) Mathiesen in Estelline, SD and later adopted by Willard Mathiesen.

Jason graduated from Custer, SD in 1991 and studied diesel mechanics at Lake Area Votech in Watertown. He drove a semi for Anderson Trucking and T Brothers before working for H & I Trucking in Hetland, SD.

Survivors include his mother, Arlene Mathiesen; brother, Thomas Mathiesen; sister, Sarah (Joel) Szymanski; nieces, Gabie and Jorgie Mathiesen; nephew, Leo Szymanski and grandmother, Nora Stangeland. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Mathiesen and grandparents.

Jason had a love of life and adventure that he shared with countless friends and family! Anything on the water was his sanctuary, whether it be boating, fishing, going on cruises or hanging out on his pontoon boat surrounded by friends. Being by the water always gave him peace and many memories were made and will always be cherished. His joy for hunting, riding motorcycles, going to car races and his recent woodworking kept him connected to his friends and family!

Jason's heart and home were open to all and he was always quick to help someone in need! When his health declined, so many of these loved ones reciprocated his generosity and have helped Jason out in so many ways which he was forever grateful. He was well loved by many and will be dearly missed but will remain with us all in spirit.
