Janice K. (Willmott) Buechler, age 63, of Kokomo, Indiana, formerly of White, died Thursday, June 15, 2006, at St. Josephs Hospital in Kokomo. A funeral Mass will be held in Kokomo on Tuesday, and a second funeral Mass at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 23, 2006. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery at White. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the We Care Fund at Radio Station WWKI in Kokomo, Indiana. Janice K. (Willmott) Buechler was born June 15, 1943, at Brookings, South Dakota, to Harry and Mary Ellen (Smith) Willmott. She attended country school and graduated from White High School in 1961. On June 25, 1966, she married Marvin Buechler at White. For 32 years, Janice served at the Radio Station WWKI We Care Coordinator. During that time she was instrumental in establishing the annual We Care Trim-A-Tree Auction, We Care Hope Doll, and We Care Hope Fund. She started the We Care Store, which sells many of the items she designed as part of the charitys fundraiser activities. She was involved with various community organizations and received numerous accolades for her efforts including the Sagamore of the Wabash Award, David Foster Award For Lifetime Achievement, the City of Kokomo Key Award, and other local recognitions. She also co-managed the Kokomo Skating Arena for several years. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Buechler, of Kokomo, Indiana; a daughter, Deborah (Thomas) Hankins of Greenwood, Indiana; three sisters: Kathy (David) Gilfillan of Bellevue, Nebraska, Carolyn (George) Covrig of Brookings, South Dakota, and Patricia (David) Landsman of Elkton, South Dakota; two brothers: Raymond (Jeanne) Willmott of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Harry Bill Willmott of Austin, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; her parents; two brothers, Charles and S. Thomas Willmott; and three sisters: Ellen Dempsey, Myrna McCulloch, and Mary Radermacher.
