Janet Learing, age 87, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the Brookings Hospital. Memorial services are pending. Eisdness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janet was born on January 21, 1931 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Howard and Orpha (Wibe) Jacobs. She was a graduate of the Yankton High School. After receiving her education she was united in marriage to Arthur Learing in June of 1952. After their marriage they lived in Yankton for a short time and Janet was employed at Fox Jewelry Store. They later moved to Sioux City and then to Tucson, AZ. They continued to live in Tucson, AZ, until the time of Arthur's death in 2000. She then moved to Florida to be near her son until moving to Brookings, SD in 2002. Janet has continued to make Brookings her home.

She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish.

Janet is survived by her son John (Leigh) Learing of Greenville, SC; her grandchildren Phoebe and Annabelle; one sister Gwen Andersen of Brookings, SD; and one brother Gary (Renata) Jacobs of Omaha, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Arthur.
