James C. "Jim" Wiener, age 68, of White, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in White, with interment in Fairview Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in White. James Charles Wiener was born December 17, 1942, at Brookings, South Dakota, to Frank and Evangeline (Thomssen) Wiener. He attended country schools and graduated from White High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Air Force from January 1961 until October 1964. Following his discharge, he moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where he worked for 3M for eleven years. On September 10, 1966, he married Shirley Wiener. They moved to White to farm in September 1975. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, gardening, and visiting with his many friends. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wiener, of White; three children: Debra Robbins (Bill Hagan) of Ft. Collins, Colorado, James Wiener (Andrea Wright) of Yankton, South Dakota, and Sarah Wiener (Ted Collett) of Madison, South Dakota; nine grandchildren: James, Lexi, and Rebecca Robbins, Samantha Mason, and Anthony, Kaitlyn, Thomas, Alexis, and Abigail Wiener; three great-grandchildren: Maddisyn, Brendon, and Brynson; his father, Frank Wiener, of White; a sister, Carol (Fred) Blacksmith of Park Forest, Illinois; and a sister-in-law, Janet Wiener, of Volga. He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Robert; and a grandson, Zane Robbins.
