James Gill, age 67, of Brookings, died Saturday, September 9, 2006, at Brookview Manor in Brookings. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with interment at Fairview Cemetery at White. There will be no visitations. James William Gill was born December 1, 1938, at Flandreau, South Dakota, to William and Kathryn (Murphy) Gill. He graduated from Brookings High School and attended South Dakota State University for two years. He worked for the Iowa State Highway Commission in Ames, Iowa, the Nebraska Department of Roads in Lincoln, and Northwest Products in Sioux Falls. He worked as a custodian at Brookings High School and at SDSU. He had lived at Dakota Sun in Volga for the past several years. Survivors include a daughter, Jodi Ann DeSchepper, of Spring, Texas; two grandchildren; and eight brothers and sisters: Mary (Bill) Rowlands of San Jose, California, Stephen (Connie) Gill of Peoria, Illinois, Larry (Cindy) Gill of Radcliff, Kentucky, Jo Ellen (Bob) Egeberg of Morton, Illinois, William Gill of Eatontown, New Jersey, Judy (David) Purvis of Volga, South Dakota, John (Sooni) Gill of Tacoma, Washington, and Patrick (Holly) Gill of Brookings. He was preceded in death by his parents.
