Irene Bolte, age 92, of Volga, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Brookview Manor in Brookings. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 25, 2012, at Sinai Lutheran Church, with interment in the West Sinai Lutheran Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. Irene Lois (Anderson) Bolte was born June 6, 1919 in Volga, South Dakota to Carl and Henrikka (Melheim) Anderson. Irene grew up on a farm near Lake Sinai. She attended school in Sinai, South Dakota, and graduated from Sinai High School in 1937. Irene was baptized and confirmed and was a member of Sinai Lutheran throughout her life. At the time of her death, Irene was the oldest female member of Sinai Lutheran Church. On December 11, 1939, Irene was united in marriage in Hendricks, Minnesota, to Clarence Bolte of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. After living 3 years in Canton, South Dakota, they returned to the farm by Lake Sinai where Irene grew up. To this union, two children were born: Donald DeWayne Bolte on July 13, 1943, and Carolyn Lois Bolte Tucker on August 5, 1947. Irene was a Sunday school teacher and a Bible School helper for many years. She was an active member of the Sinai Lutheran ladies aid. Leaving the farm in 1971 Irene and Clarence moved to Sioux Falls where she worked at the South Dakota School for the Deaf for five years and the Senior Citizen Center for two years. Irene also spent a number of years doing child care in their home. After nine years of living in Sioux Falls, they moved to Volga. Irene loved to play cards with her dear friends and to eat at the 60 plus dining. She never missed church if weather permitted her to drive. She lived in her own home in Volga until she had to move into Dakota Sun. From there, she moved to Brookview Manor until her death. Irene is survived by her two children Donald (Marcia) Bolte of Leawood, Kansas, and Carolyn (Wayne) Tucker of Volga, South Dakota; five grandchildren: Lisa (Brock) Larson of New Prague, Minnesota, Nick (Nikki) Bolte of Olathe, Kansas, Brian (Jamie) Tucker of Volga, Dale Tucker of Brookings, Enid (James) Weiss of Pierre, South Dakota; and ten great-grandchildren, of which one carries her name, Cayda Irene Weiss. Irene was preceded in death by husband, Clarence, in 1982; parents, Carl and Henrikka Anderson; one sister Korrene Adams; one brother Alvin Anderson; and one baby sister. Irene wanted you all to know, "The Lord was good to me all my life."
