Obituary

Ina Irene (Garrett) Binkley, 93, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on June 29, 2026, from natural causes. Visitation and program will begin at Isburg Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026. Burial services will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre, South Dakota.

Ina was born on April 4, 1933 in Pierre, South Dakota, daughter of Geoffrey and Edith (Sutton) Garrett. She came from two families that figured prominently in the growth, leadership, and history of South Dakota. In the 1880’s, the Garretts were one of the first pioneer families in Sully County where they homesteaded, cared for several hundred cattle each year, and raised their family with a spirit of diligence, generosity, and public service. The Suttons established one of the oldest, continually owned family ranches in the United States, famous for breeding top-tier American Quarter Horses, founding the Sutton Rodeo, and owning the oldest, continuously run private bison herd in the country.

Ina grew up on the Garrett family ranch in Sully County, attended rural school, and graduated from Pierre High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart and life-long love, Kenneth (Ken) Binkley in Fort Pierre, South Dakota on September 8, 1953. While Ken completed his military service and college education, Ina took care of their growing family and then relocated through Ken’s career advancements to Iowa, New Jersey, and finally, Georgia. Ina loved to travel and organized many family trips, especially to her favorite vacation destination, Disney World. She enjoyed displaying her extensive porcelain and cut-glass collections as well as Disney memorabilia. She was an avid gardener and was often found tending to her flower beds or watering the many pots of flowers that lined the driveway. Ina was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her large family and spending time with them.

Ina is survived by her 5 children, Lisa (Dayton) Alsaker and their 3 children Kelly, Jessica, and Cody; Mark (Teresa) and their 2 children Laura and Steve; Tim and his 2 children Brian and Andy; Julie (Jim) Holmes and their 3 children Eric, Kyle, and Kevin; and Linda (Bob) Mulvihill and their 2 children Ryan and Matthew. She is survived by 12 great-grandchildren: Anders, Eli, Tyler, Alexa, Ava, Oscar, Felix, Linus, Lena, Leif, Brady, and Avery. She is also survived by her brother Roger Garrett of Spearfish, South Dakota and her sister Jean (Garrett) Windedahl of Highland Village, Texas. Ina was preceded in death by her husband Ken in 2025, her parents, her baby sister Alice, and her brother Glen Garrett.
