Obituary

Henry Hank Walburg, age 80, of Brookings, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the Volga Christian Reformed Church, with interment in Trinity Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. John Henry Hank Walburg was born December 15, 1925, at Bemis, South Dakota, to Jacob and Henrietta (TeKrony) Walburg. He grew up in the Castlewood area, later moving to the Clear Lake area. He attended Hamlin Dist. No. 4 country school. On March 21, 1949, he married Adrianna Molengraaf at Hendricks, Minnesota. The couple operated a dairy farm near Brookings, and Hank also did building construction and wood crafts in the Volga-Brookings area. He was a member of the Volga Christian Reformed Church. Besides woodworking and reading, he especially enjoyed his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Adrianna (Ady) Walburg, of Brookings; three children: Dorothy (David) Huether of Brookings, Duane (Lisa) Walburg of Volga, and Debra (Scott) Landegant of Volga; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; guardian sister-in-law, Betty (Larry) Scott, of Sinai; a sister; Johanna Volkers, of Brookings; and three brothers: Theodore (Gladys) Walburg of Watertown, Bernard (Maye) Walburg of Orange City, Iowa, and Myron (Kaye) Walburg of Prescott, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Lyle; a brother-in-law, Bert Volkers; and a sister-in-law, Rosie.
