Helga H. Buchholtz, age 70, died Friday, September 10, 2004, at Brookview Manor in Brookings. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at the Brookings Wesleyan Church, with interment at Trinity Cemetery in Volga. Visitations are from 6-8 P.M. Monday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Helga Hannelore (Zell) Buchholtz was born May 4, 1934, at Frankfort, Germany, to Ludwig and Maria-Bertha (Grein) Zell. She grew up and attended college in Germany. She loved animals and showed Chihuahuas throughout Europe. She emigrated to the United States in 1963. She worked as a linguist for the U.S. government, living in California and Texas. She moved to Brookings in 1981. Helga enjoyed knitting and reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Don) Dykhouse, of Volga; two sons: Alexander (Sandi) Archey of Helotes, Texas, and Olaf (Mary) Archey of San Antonio, Texas; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, in Germany.
