Hazel was born September 29,1928. She was raised in Humboldt SD where she met and married Marvin "Curley" Rieger. They had 3 kids together and moved to Brookings in 1963 where she spent the rest of her life. After Curley's passing in 1968, she married family friend Manley Dotson. They enjoyed golfing and spending winters in Arizona with friends. After Manley passed away, she pursued her passion of buying and selling antiques. She would hit rummage sales every Friday, and estate auctions on Saturdays. Hazel passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 7, 2025. She was 96. She was preceded in death by husbands Curley and Manley, daughter Penny Rieger, son Steve Rieger, stepsons Dave and Mike Dotson. She is survived by son Mike Rieger, and granddaughters Megan Rieger, and Heather Dotson and Emily Braun. There will be a graveside service at First Lutheran Cemetery May 2 at 11:00 am.
