Dixie was born, March 18, 1943, near Fessenden, ND, to Charlie and Catherine (Kunnanz) Schimelfenig. She was the youngest of six children. She and Allen "Jim" Will were united in marriage in 1959. She had an ability to connect with people as soon as she met them. She was a resilient lady who was never afraid of a challenge.
