Harriet A. Nesemeier, age 83, died on Monday, April 17, 2006, at Brookview Manor in Brookings. A graveside service will be held on 1:00 P.M.,Saturday, May 20, at the Milbank, South Dakota, Cemetery. Harriet A. (Schaffer) Nesemeier was born February 20, 1923, at Milbank, South Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Minnie Schaffer. She graduated from Milbank High School, and on March 8, 1941, married Melvin Dornbusch at the English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived and worked in the Milbank area until 1960 when they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. Harriet was employed as an office clerk at Union Brass for ten years, and then worked as a nurses aide until her retirement. Following Melvins death, Harriet married Boyden Nesemeier in 1974. Harriet and Boyden spent some time living at Garrison, Minnesota, on the shore of Mille Lacs Lake. Later Harriet again returned to St. Paul, where she enjoyed being with friends and family, quilting, and playing cards. In May 2002, she moved to Brookings and resided at Sunchase Apartments until her recent moved to Brookview Manor. She especially looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the weekly card games with her son-in-law. Harriet is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Sigurd) Johnson, of Brookings; two sons: Thomas (Linda) Dornbusch of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Richard (Linda) Dornbusch of Battle Lake, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin and Boyden; her son Dennis; and her daughter-in-law Cheryl.
