Gloria T. Harper, age 80, of Exeter, California, formerly of Brookings, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at Visalia, California. Graveside services were held at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings. Gloria Theano (Stratton) Harper was born May 26, 1926, at Huron, South Dakota, to Gust and Clara (Jenssen) Stratton. At the age of six months, Gloria moved to Brookings with her parents. She attended Brookings Elementary and High Schools, Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SDSU in Brookings, and Northwest Schools in Portland, Oregon. She was in business with her parents and her brother in the Stratton Shoe Store and Logues Corner in Brookings. On November 25, 1960, Gloria married James P. Harper in Visalia, California. They resided in California, Texas, and Brookings until their return to California in 1983. Gloria managed apartment complexes and motels with her husband in California. Mr. Harper died in 1984. Gloria was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings, where she had sung in the choir, and the Royal Neighbors of America.
