Glenn D. Telkamp, age 97, of Brookings, died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 2, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday at Eidsness Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to your charity of choice. Glenn Daniel Telkamp was born January 27, 1909, in Trenton Township, south of Brookings. He attended country school and lived with his family until he was 21. On March 27, 1932, he married Harriett L. Staples at Brookings. The couple farmed south of Brookings for 43 years. They moved to Brookings in 1975. Glenn was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a 4-H leader for several years. He was active in the Oddfellows, and served as the District Deputy Grand Master, and named a Past Grand Patriarch. Survivors include his daughters: Verola Snyder of Arizona, Berdeena (David) Chase of Iowa, and Glennice (Gary) Shay of Minnesota; son: Marlin Telkamp of Brookings; three sisters: Vida Logan, Ruth Swanson, Orella Carey; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friend Shirley Archer (California). He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett; parents, Gus and Verna Telkamp; son Merlin, five brothers and six sisters.
