Obituary

Glenn P. Flipper Seas, age 61, of Brookings, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, following a courageous battle with post-polio syndrome. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 6, 2009, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will precede services on Monday beginning at 12 noon.

Glenn Phillip Seas was born April 14, 1948, at Brookings, South Dakota, to Marvin and M. Marie (Seney) Seas. Although he was stricken with polio at five months of age, he led a full life despite paralysis. He graduated from Brookings High School in 1967, and North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, North Dakota, in 1969. He was employed as an architectural draftsman at UBC in Mitchell, South Dakota, until ill health forced his retirement in 1994. While living in Mitchell he was active in the Elks Lodge and served a term as Exalted Ruler. He returned to Brookings in January of 1994. When his health allowed, he enjoyed taking his restored 1971 Plymouth Duster to area car shows. He enjoyed all sports, whether as a participant or as a spectator, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by two sisters: Helen Hoffman, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Eileen (Wayne) Tanke, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a brother, Lynn (Patricia) Seas, of Rapid City, South Dakota; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, uncle Roger (Beverly) Seas, of Brookings, South Dakota, and numerous cousins and friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, and uncles.
