Gladys Raine, age 87, of White, died Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014, at First Baptist Church in White, with interment at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in White. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the White Ambulance Fund or to the Fairview Cemetery Association. Gladys Viola (Morris) Raine was born August 14, 1927, near Bushnell, South Dakota, to Bud Clinton and Mary Elizabeth (Glenn) Morris. She attended District No. 103 country school in Sherman Township and White High School. She worked as a telephone operator in Madison, Wisconsin, and as a clerk at the B & D Drugstore, Stockton, California, and F. W. Woolworth's in Brookings. She was a receptionist at the telephone office in Brookings and she began working at Wal-Mart on opening day. On January 3, 1951, Gladys married Cedric Raine at the Methodist parsonage in Lake Benton, Minnesota. The Raines farmed near White. Gladys was a member of First Baptist Church in White. She enjoyed flowers, birds and big-band dancing. Gladys is survived by her husband, Cedric; daughters: Cindee (Ricky) Pietz, Lisa Raine, Mary Raine, Sue (Lowell) Crooks; daughter-in-law, Peggy Raine; sister-in-law, Carol Morris; grandchildren Robbi (Katrina) King, Chad Raine, Aimee Tow (significant other Tom), Jon Raine, Eric (Jessi) Raine, Cedric Raine; step-grandchildren: Paul Pietz, Karin Preheim; great-grandchildren, Robbi King II, Heather Keith, Rachel McBride, Brandon McBride, Logan Tow, Slade, Cyrus, Isaac,and Jocey Raine; step-great-grandchild, Amiah Preheim; and many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Mary Morris; in-laws Clarence and Lena Raine; a son, Joseph; brothers, Glen, Clinton, Lawrence, Buddy, Bob and Franke Morris; sisters June Kruse and Juanita Kruse.
