Gladys L. Minor, age 92, of Volga, died Sunday, December 28, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Arlington, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at First Lutheran Church in Volga, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Monday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to church missions. Gladys Lenora (Nelson) Minor was born December 3, 1911, on a farm northwest of Volga, South Dakota, to Ingvold and Clara Nelson. She attended country school, and at age 16 began working in private homes in the Volga and Brookings area. In 1934, she married Alvin Ahnberg; they lived on the farm until his death in 1960. From 1960 until 1964, Gladys worked at First National Bank in Brookings. In 1964 she married Silas Minor; he died in 1979. Gladys was a member of Extension Club and First Lutheran Church in Volga. She was active in ALCW and Sunday School while a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings. She enjoyed extensive travel in Italy, Mexico, and Canada, and she had visited all 50 states. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting. Survivors include a son, Loren (Kathy) Ahnberg of Fairfax, Virginia; a daughter, Wanda (Dean) Frederick, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Olson, of Brookings. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, Arden Ahnberg; and a sister, Beulah Miller.
