Gladys Doop died Thursday, November 27, 2003, at Brookview Manor in Brookings, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 4, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Bruce, South Dakota, with interment at Elmwood Cemetery at Bruce. Visitations will precede services at the church on Thursday. Gladys Louise ( Hodgkinson) Doop was born June 17, 1910, at Belleville, Kansas, to Ottie E. and Ethel I. (Palmer) Hodgkinson. She graduated from Belleville High School and attended the Washburn University School of Law at Topeka, Kansas. After graduation she worked as an attorney for a law firm in Topeka and Los Angeles, California. On December 27, 1958, she married Wyatt Doop in Los Angeles. The couple lived in the Bruce area until their retirement when they moved to Lake Poinsett. They spent their winters in Texas. Gladys enjoyed working in their fruit orchards. Gladys was a member of the Methodist Church, a leader for many years in the Methodist Youth Fellowship, and a member of the Methodist Womens Society. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, her parents, and a brother, Arnold Hodgkinson.
