Gladys Dingman, age 91, of Brookings, died Sunday, December 14, 2008, at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, Pat Eidsness, officiating, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Friday at Eidsness Funeral Home.
Gladys Berniece (Lovre) Dingman was born June 12, 1917, at Estelline, South Dakota, to Thomas and Annie (Sandland) Lovre. She was raised on the family farm and attended country school near Estelline. On October 12, 1940, she married Bob Dingman in Iowa. Following their marriage, the Dingmans farmed near Brandt, and moved to Brookings in 1944. They later divorced. Gladys worked for the SDSU Food Service and at the Student Union. After her retirement, she moved to the Yorkshire Apartments. She enjoyed walking, playing Skip-Bo, and watching the Twins. She was an excellent cook and baker, which was much appreciated by her family and friends.
Survivors include three children: Elaine (Dave) Gullickson of Brookings, Carol (Charles) Janes of Aurora, South Dakota, and Larry Dingman of Aberdeen, South Dakota; ten grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Ruth Phipps, Ruth's husband Lonnie, and their three daughters, Lonelle, Beth, and Carla Joe; two sons: David and Robert Dingman; an infant brother; and a brother, Elmer.
