Obituary

Geri Christianson, age 80, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at her home in Volga. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment at First Lutheran Cemetery in Volga. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga.

Geraldine Geri Estella Christianson was born June 15, 1930, at Minot, North Dakota, the only child of Joseph and Stella B. (Toombs) Ellefson. The family lived briefly in Minot before moving to Philip, South Dakota, and then to Chester, South Dakota, until 1937 when they moved to Estelline. Geri graduated from Estelline High School in 1948.

Geri was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Brookings, American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and formerly a member of the Century Study Club and Fortnightly Club in Volga. She enjoyed gardening, home decorating, crocheting, and baking. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she crocheted many afghans for family and friends, and she baked many loaves of bread to give away.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Christianson, of Volga; four children: Steven (Debra) Christianson of Sioux Falls, Rebecca (Jay) Raimann of Hastings, Minnesota; Mark (Laurel) Christianson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Jon (Bev) Christianson of Williston, North Dakota; six grandchildren: Christopher (Sara) Raimann, Annette Raimann, Allison (Dan) Ziebarth, Cole Christianson, Sarah Christianson, and Serena Christianson; and two great-grandchildren, Trystan Raimann and William Ziebarth. She was preceded in death by her parents.
