Gay Lynn Treloar Bauer, age 73, of Aurora, South Dakota, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 4:30 pm in Brookings, SD at Eidsness Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Aurora, SD.
Gay Lynn was born on October 27, 1952, to Earl and Betty Treloar. She grew up in Madison, South Dakota, where she attended Lincoln Elementary School and Madison High School, class of 1971. During her school years, she enjoyed cheerleading and spending time with her many friends, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.
Gay Lynn had a deep love for the summer season and was known for her beautiful tan and radiant presence. She carried that warmth into her daily life, working a variety of jobs that allowed her to connect with people-something she truly enjoyed. Her friendliness and genuine smile made a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rick Bauer of Aurora, SD; her mother Betty Treloar of Madison, SD; her daughters, Tessa Basler of Florida and Tara Booker of Texas; her brother Steve (Deb Ahrendt) Treloar of Baltic, SD; and her two cherished grandchildren, Journey and Snowy of Texas. She is also remembered by many extended family members and dear friends who will greatly miss her kindness and bright spirit.
Gay Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Earl Treloar; her sister, Dana Callies, and her brother-in-law, Gary Callies.
Gay Lynn will be remembered for her warm heart, her love of family and friends, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her beautiful smile and kind nature will never be forgotten.
