Frieda A. Wilaby, 99, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 25, 2010, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in the Badger Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
Frieda Amanda (Weiss) Wilaby was born January 21, 1911, at Badger, South Dakota, to Carl and Emma (Rosenau) Weiss. She grew up and attended school at Badger, and attended ag college at SDSU. She married Louis Christensen on June 30, 1931; he died January 2, 1946. She married Kenneth Wiseman on January 16, 1950; he died April 1, 1983. Frieda farmed with her husbands and also provided nursing and personal care for people in the Lake Preston/Bryant/Clear Lake areas. She married Frank Wilaby in 1989, and they later divorced.
Frieda was a member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, roller skating, and dancing.
Survivors include her two grandsons: Kevin (Angie) Warne, of Estelline, and Jason (Lundina) Warne, of Brookings; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husbands; a daughter, Lois Warne; four brothers: Henry, Arthur, Edward, and Robert Weiss; and a sister, Arlene Falconer.
