Obituary

Frankie Lee (Fryer) McDowell took the hand of her precious Lord and Savior on April 2, 2021 at the age of 61.  Funeral services celebrating Frankie's life will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at Brookings First Assembly of God.  The service will be live-streamed on the Brookings First Assembly of God YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epuSGVsOZGw . A time of visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9:00 A.M.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting Frankie's family with arrangements.

Frankie McDowell was born September 8 th 1959 in California to James and JoAnn Fryer.  She graduated from Clearwater, Nebraska in 1978.  Frankie graduated from cosmetology school in Norfolk, Nebraska and worked at the Granada Salon and served many clients.  Frankie also worked at various nursing home in Norfolk and Sioux City, Iowa as a medication aide.

Frankie married William McDowell on June 17, 1984, and from this union the light of their lives was born-Michael Ryan McDowell.

Frankie loved baking, embroidery, crafts, family parties, and most of all worshipping her Lord Jesus Christ.  She loved to listen to Randy Travis, even meeting him and having her picture taken with him-she could barely contain her excitement!

Frankie worked at Brookings Radio for 13 years, loving her radio family and many listeners.  We will never forget, "Brookings Radio, this is Frankie."  Her customers will always remember her smile as they were greeted and her encouraging words for them.

Frankie was an active member of Brookings First Assembly of God church where she started the biggest passion in her life, The Blessing Tent.  Frankie and her ministry team served many people in their community and beyond, loving and praying with each person who came to her for help.

When Frankie's health began to fail and she began receiving dialysis, she was a bright light in the unit, not looking at her situation as a burden, but as a mission field, telling anyone who would listen about her relationship with Jesus Christ.  Everyone knows that after dialysis her favorite stop was McDonald's to have a sugar free vanilla coffee.

Frankie loved her family-her brother Jim and Dennis were her shield and defenders.  She loved her precious niece, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, and shared a loving bond with all of them.  She was so excited to meet her twin nieces or nephews arriving this October.

Frankie leaves behind to treasure her memory the most precious person in her life, Michael Ryan McDowell, of Brookings; two brothers: Jim (Carol) Fryer and Dennis (Jodi) Fryer, both of Brookings; her niece and nephews and their spouses; her great-nieces and nephews, who loved their Aunt Frankie with a passion, and a host of cousins and friends.  She is also preceded in death by her beloved dog, Remi.

Waiting to greet her in Heaven are her parents, Jim and Jo Ann Fryer; baby brother Micheal Joe Fryer; her grandparents; and her aunts and uncles.
