Florence Amy Lee Schade, 90 of Brookings, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Bethany Nursing Home, Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 21, 2012, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in First Lutheran Cemetery at Volga. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Thursday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. She was born on April 29, 1922 at Volga, SD the daughter of Conrad and Gina (Vostad) Lee. She graduated from Volga High School and attended Watertown Business School. She married Jerald Schade in Volga and farmed many years in Bangor Township until 1970. Florence worked at South Dakota State University for 28 years in the Music Department and in the office of the Dean of Arts and Science. "Flo" had a passion for helping students and a love for SDSU. She served on several boards for her church, sang in the church choirs and spent many years as Sunday School Superintendent at First Lutheran Church in Volga. She is survived by three children, Paul and his fiancé Renae Doescher, of Badger, Jim and his wife Nancy, of Volga, Jane Williams and her husband Kim, Sioux Falls; 4 grandsons, 5 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend gratitude to Bethany Lutheran Home and Compassionate Care Hospice for the love and care they provided to our mother.
