Erwin L. Jerred, age 85, of rural White, South Dakota, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the Brookings Hospital in Brookings, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2005, at Morningside Community Church in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will precede services at the church on Friday. Erwin Lyle Jerred was born March 25, 1920, at Millboro, South Dakota, to Edgar Erwin and Minnie Mae (Alberts) Jerred. He married LeVone Nielsen on January 1, 1948, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1951, the Jerreds moved to a farm near White, where they have resided since. Erwin was a member of Morningside Community Church, where he served on various committees. He also served as president of the White School Board. Survivors include his wife, LeVone Jerred, of White; two daughters: Marlys (Roland) vant Hul of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Marlene Jerred and special friend, Max Thomas, of Austin, Texas; a son, Laverne (Lynne) Jerred of White; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lula Maxine Boster, of Beresford, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Russell; and a sister, Eva.
