Elvin Lund, age 85, of Brookings, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at the Brookings Hospital in Brookings, South Dakota. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, preceded by interment at First Lutheran Cemetery. There will be no visitations. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials. Elvin Lund was born November 12, 1918, at Volga, South Dakota to Martin Andrew and Sophie (Borelson) Lund. He attended country school near Sinai. On February 28, 1942, he married Virginia Ann Nesson at Nunda, South Dakota. Elvin owned a livestock trucking business and farmed until 1994. He was awarded recognition for his twelve years of work with the Brookings County Weed Board. Elvin was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings. He was active in A.A. for 24 years and loved working with other members. He enjoyed deer hunting and working in trucking and farming, and with the fellow workers in weed control. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lund, of Brookings; four children: Ennis (Nancy) Lund of Sioux Falls, James (Teresa) Lund of Sioux Falls, Kathleen DeBoise of Houston, Texas, and Douglas (Jackie) Lund of Winter Haven, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Ted Lund of Oregon and Henry Lund of Arlington, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Marvin and Herbert; and a sister, Sadie Wilson.
