Ellene D. Jensen, age 100, died Tuesday, December 11, 2014, at the Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings, South Dakota. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at GracePoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings. Eidsness Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Ellene Jensen was born in Gruver, Iowa, to Fred and Bess (Reed) Dowden on September 27, 1914. She moved with her family to Spirit Lake, Iowa where she spent her childhood years, graduating from high school there in 1932. Ellene married Lawrence Jensen in 1932. In 1945, they moved to South Dakota, locating on Lake Cochrane. Ellene worked at Deuel Telephone Co-op for five years and for the SDSU Library for seventeen years. She was a member of the Brookings Wesleyan Church and a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Grateful for having shared her life are a son, Larry (Janet) Jensen, Dawson, MN; a daughter, Christine (Bob) Irvine, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Casey Jensen, Willmar, MN and Connie (Clark) Moen, Marshall, MN; one very special great-granddaughter, Alissa Moen; one sister, Opal McDaniel, Jonesboro, AR; one brother, Fred Dowden, Spirit Lake, IA, and several nieces.
