Ellen V. Krogh, age 83, of Brookings, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, at Brookview Manor in Brookings. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 2, 2006, at Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce, with interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Ellen Victoria (Skovlund) Krogh was born January 30, 1923, at Bruce, South Dakota, to Oscar C. and Mabel (Holter) Skovlund. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church, and attended country school at District No. 57. On November 22, 1946, she married Raymond A. Krogh at Hendricks, Minnesota. The Kroghs lived in Bruce until 1967, when they moved to Brookings. Ellen worked as a cook for the Brookings Middle School for 18 years. Ray died March 30, 1991. Ellen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was active in the church choir, Circle, and Bible study. She was an honorary member of the W.M.F., and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed handwork, reading, camping, fishing, and caring for her grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Steven (Donna) Krogh, of Wahpeton, North Dakota; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers: Floyd (Louise) Skovlund of Brookings, Adolph (Marge) Skovlund of White, Alden (Carol) Skovlund of Bruce, Gerald Skovlund of Bruce, and Harold Skovlund of Brookings; a sister, Audrey Ulvestad, of Bruce; sisters-in-law: Mary Skovlund of Estelline and Donna Skovlund of Sinai; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Donald; infant sisters, Lucille and Audrey; three sisters: Olga Hartley,Evelyn Harpestad, and Esther Boettcher; and four brothers: Olaf, Melvin, Ralph, and Leon Skovlund.
