Obituary

Eileen Millage, age 73, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Good Samaritan Lutheran Manor in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February, 17, 2015, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Eileen Janet (Wade) Millage was born December 9, 1941, in Custer County, South Dakota, to Leslie and Idella (Sturm) Wade. She attended the first seven grades of school in Custer County and grades seven through eleven in Newcastle, Wyoming. She graduated from Hill City High School in 1959. She received a B.A. degree from Black Hills Teachers College in 1963. On June 16, 1964, Eileen married Lawrence Meile in New Castle, Wyoming. The Meiles lived in the Black Hills area, then moved to Madison, South Dakota, in 1967. They moved to Brookings in 1969. Lawrence died July 18, 1975. On August 6, 1977, Eileen married Fred Millage at Brookings. He died June 3, 1994. Eileen was a librarian at Hillcrest Elementary School in Brookings for 19 years. She had a passion for sewing and did seamstress work on the side. Family and friends were of utmost importance to her, and she always had time to talk. Faith, strength, integrity, and unconditional love were qualities witnessed by everyone she met. She always had a joke to share and loved laughter. She was immensely comforted by the unwavering assurance that God was ultimately in complete control of everything. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, South Dakota Education Association, and National Education Association. Survivors include a son, Pat (Sharon) Meile of Brandon, South Dakota; a grandson, Carson Meile; a sister, Debora Wade of Torrington, Wyoming, and a brother, Bob Wade, of Hill City, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and a sister-in-law, Anne.
