Edwin Jerome "Jerry" Luetzow, age 78 of Brookings, died Monday, August 19, 2013, at home with his daughter by his side. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Please park across the street in the Brookings First Assembly of God parking lot due to construction. Jerry was born on October 7, 1934, in Logansport, Indiana, to Edwin Albert and Hazel Marie (Harkin) Luetzow. He was the eldest of five boys. Jerry married Marlene Cecilia Gable on March 14, 1957. They had two children; Thomas Edward who was born on March 17, 1959, and Karla Sue who was born on February 28, 1961. They divorced in 1986. Jerry served with the United States Army for six years. He graduated from the United Sates Army Electronic Anti-Aircraft Fire Control School at Fort Bliss, Texas, and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. Jerry moved his family from Indiana to Minnesota in 1968, where he developed his business while working full-time as an Engineering Manager for Midtex Corporation, and later for Duluth Scientific in Duluth, Minnesota, and Scheldahl Incorporated in Northfield, Minnesota. Jerry moved his business to Brookings, South Dakota, in 1990 and is currently operating as MTR Technologies. In May of 2003, he graduated from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. Jerry is survived by his son, Thomas E. Luetzow, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; daughter, Karla Luetzow, of Brookings, South Dakota; four brothers: Richard and Harold of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Robert of Lytle Creek, California, and Benjamin of Davenport, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Luetzow on November 29, 1991, and Edwin Luetzow of March 2, 1969, and by Marlene Luetzow on May 2, 2010.
