Edward Hulsebus, 77, of rural Astoria, South Dakota, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at his home under hospice care surrounded by his loving family. A private family funeral service will be held on Monday August 3rd at 10:30 a.m, at First Baptist Church in White, with burial taking place at Fairview Cemetery in White, South Dakota.
Edward Joe Hulsebus was born on August 18, 1942, to Henry and Lena (Fischer) Hulsebus at the family farm near White. Edward's love for farming grew when he took over the farm at a young age, and has continued farming until recent years with his son. At a young age Edward accepted Jesus to be his Savior, and since then has faithfully followed and served Jesus, until he parted from this world.
Early on in his life he was united in marriage to Maxine Belsner and they celebrated 53 years of marriage.They were blessed with 5 children, 13 grand-children, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the First Baptist church of White SD for many years, where he loved singing hymns and being in fellowship with other believers. He served on the Oak Lake township for over 40 years. He enjoyed yard work, taking care of trees and livestock, attending his kids and grandkids sporting events, golfing, and spending time with family. During harvest, Ed loved giving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren rides in the combine and educating them on his love for farming. Edward will be remembered for his love of Jesus, his family, and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Hulsebus; children; Colleen (Wade) Christianson of Sioux Falls, Michelle (Gene) Bjorklund of Volga, Becky (Chris) Thompson of Sioux Falls, Michael (Lynda) Hulsebus of White, Denise (Jim) Seymour of Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren: Marissa, Allison, Calli, Brittany, Ryan, Tiffany, Ben, Micah, Abbie, Emily, Caleb, Elijah, and Selah;10 great-grandchildren; brother Harold of Columbus NE; sister-in-laws Betty Hulsebus of Lake Park MN and Sylvia Hulsebus of Gladewater TX.
He is preceded in death by: His parents Henry and Lena Hulsebus, brothers Wallace and Richard.
