IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas
Urevig
April 3, 1944 – August 1, 2025
Douglas Urevig, a devout Christian and loving father, passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm with Visitation starting at 12:30 pm on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Holy Life Tabernacle Church in Brookings, SD. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born April 3rd 1944, Doug's early years were marked by frequent moves, attending schools across California and South Dakota before graduating from De Smet High School in 1962.
Doug pursued higher education with a year at the South Dakota School of Mines and later some college at South Dakota State University. Though he did not complete a degree, his true education came through a life rich in work, faith, and service to others.
Over the years, Doug worked a variety of jobs, but his greatest vocational passion was as a mechanic. He also logged countless hours as an over-the-road truck driver.
Doug was a devoted follower of Christ and attended non-denominational churches throughout his life. He played a pivotal role in bringing not only his own family to the Lord, but also mentoring many of his sons' friends, welcoming them into his home, and guiding them spiritually.
A lifelong learner and thinker, Doug loved studying the Bible and teaching Sunday School.
He had a special interest in computers and shared a memorable journey to Israel with his brother Dennis.
Doug is survived by his sister, Sue Alt; his sister-in-law, Christine Urevig; his sons, Mike (and wife Julie) and Curt (and wife Katie), and his beloved grandchildren: Chris (Megan) Urevig, Meghan (Emilio) Cuauhtli, Sarah (Reid) Cummings, Luke (Sage) Urevig, Emily Urevig and Tyler Urevig as well as sister-in-law Vikki Irvin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardes (Dennis) Fjellestad and William (Martha) Urevig, his brother Dennis Urevig, and his beloved wife Sandie Urevig, as well as father-in-law Glen Irvin, mother-in-law Hilda Irvin, and brothers-in-law Donald Irvin and Gene Irvin.
Doug's life was a testimony of faith and perseverance. He will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
