Dorothy (McKibben) Emerson, age 88, formerly of White, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006, in California. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 10, at Fairview Cemetery at White, with Pastor Bonnie Peterson officiating. Visitations will be from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in White. Dorothy Ruth (McKibben) was born November 17, 1917, on the farm near White, South Dakota, to H.B. and Edna McKibben. She attended grade school at Argo District 24 country school, and graduated from the South Dakota State College School of Agriculture in Brookings. She married Clifford Jay Emerson of Toronto, South Dakota, on December 27, 1936. Twin girls were born to them, one of whom died shortly after birth. Dorothy was employed as a manager of coats and suits at the Lytton Department Store in Melrose Park, Illinois. Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Patricia Berg-Weiner, of Accokeek, Maryland; a granddaughter, Bridget Moira, of Burlington, Vermont; and a brother, Donald B. McKibben, of Turlock, California. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers: Lawrence, Ralph, and Richard.
