Obituary

Donald Selleck, age 81, of White, died Friday, October 2, 2009, at the White Healthcare Center in White, South Dakota, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in White, with interment in Fairview Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-8 P.M. Monday at the United Methodist Church in White.

Donald Charles Selleck was born December 5, 1927, on a farm near Hendricks, Minnesota, to Charles and Gladys (Cowles) Selleck. He attended the New Grove Consolidated School located south of Hendricks until 1937 when he moved with his parents to a farm in Sherman Township in South Dakota. He finished his education at District No. 104.

Don was a farmer all of his life. He married Rose Trulock on July 27, 1951, at Lake Benton, Minnesota. They farmed in Oak Lake and Sherman Township. In 1957 they bought a farm in Sherman Township.

Don was a member of the United Methodist Church of White. He loved fishing and doing things with his children and grandchildren. He also loved to hunt in his younger years.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Selleck, of White; five children: Deanna (Steve) Larson of Russell, Minnesota, Peggy (Darald) Bauman of Gary, South Dakota, Charles (Cheri) Selleck of White, Julie (Mike) Petersen of White, and Donald (Renae) Selleck, Jr., of Brookings; 19 grandchildren: Mike (Shelley) Larson, Jeremy Larson, Jeff Larson, Jamie (Mandy) Bauman, Sara (Jason) Winter, Corey (Jessica) Bauman, Scott (Kelli) Bauman, Kayla Bauman, Leah Bauman, Austin Lovre, Olivia Selleck, Hope Selleck, Abbey Selleck, Jackson Selleck, Mandi Petersen, Monica Petersen, Jon Petersen, Kirby Selleck, and Heather Selleck; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eva Selleck, of Brookings; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and Melvin; and a sister, Lela Smith.
