Donald Edwin Rector passed away on Wednesday June 17th, 2026, in Brookings S.D. at the age of 86.

Donald Edwin Rector was born on March 18th, 1941, in Clay County, Iowa to Azelia Laura Rose Mohror (Rector) & Edwin Leon Rector. Right after high school Donald joined the Air Force, where he served as a mechanic for 4 years from 1959-1963. He then worked at Twin City Fans for a couple of years. When Donald started living on the farm in Arlington SD, he started farming where he grew corn, beans and wheat. He was known for converting his vehicles, tractors and motorcycles to propane earning him the nickname “propane Don”.

Don enjoyed riding his motorcycle, driving into town for coffee and going to tractor shows.

Don has three step-children Dan Wilcox, Kim Villanueva, and Kevin Wilcox. Grandkids Jesse, Zack, Jen, Cory, Ashley, Adam. Don Also has six great grandchildren. Don enjoyed his time working outside on his tractors and his vehicle’s. Don enjoyed watching his movies and tv shows while reading his magazines. Don lived his life with joy and fun. His favorite TV show was Beavis and Butthead.
