Donald M. Olson, age 73, of Volga, died Sunday, October 31, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Arlington, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at First Lutheran Church in Volga, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga.
Donald Melvin Olson was born November 27, 1936, at Volga, South Dakota, to Henry and Mabel Isabel (Pickering) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He attended country school at Cottonwood District No. 78, and graduated from Volga High School in 1955. He served as an officer in FFA. He farmed all his life, living on the same farm his family occupied since 1895.
Donnie had a wide variety of interests, including, wood working, restoring toy tractors, collecting stamps and coins, and attending auction sales which led to more collections and more projects. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe, and was always interested in visiting with family and friends. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and served as president of the Volga Jaycees.
Survivors include two uncles and aunts, cousins, and friends.
