Donald N. Mehl, age 86, formerly of Volga, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 25, 2005, at Rogers, Minnesota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga, with interment in Trinity Cemetery at Volga. Visitations will precede services at the chapel, beginning at 12:30 P.M. Donald N. Mehl was born November 23, 1918, at Minot, North Dakota, and raised on a farm in South Dakota. He graduated from South Dakota State College and served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was employed for 40 years in dairy quality assurance positions in Kentucky, Ohio, and South Dakota. Don was active with Calvary Presbyterian Church as Elder, Deacon, Trustee, teacher and Sunday school superintendent as well as choir member. His local community involvements included American Legion, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, School Board, Cub Scouts, Riding Club, 4-H Club and Dale Carnegie instructor. After retirement, Don and Lenore resided in the Phoenix, Arizona, area. The past three years he had been a resident of Wellstead, a wonderful assisted living facility in Rogers, Minnesota, for the care of Alzheimer and dementia patients. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include his son, Donald (Carol) Mehl, of Chanhassen, Minnesota, daughter Colleen (Robert) Hageman, of Buffalo, Minnesota; a sister Carol (Robert) Fleischmann, of Duluth, Minnesota; a brother John (Udell) Mehl, of Fargo, North Dakota; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lenore of 54 years, wife Nadine, parents Peter and Eva, sister Dorothy Hennen, and brother Harold.
