Obituary

Dolly Hodgins, age 81, of Burnsville, Minnesota, died Friday, June 13, 2008, of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 17, with visitation at 10:00 A.M., at Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville. A second service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 19, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bonesteel, South Dakota, with interment in St. Marys Cemetery. Ulla Dolly (Halverson) Hodgins was born May 27, 1927, at Newman Grove, Nebraska, to Christian Bernard and Adelia M. (Powell) Halverson. She moved with her family to Gregory County, South Dakota, in 1929. She graduated from Bonesteel High School in 1945. On November 2, 1946, she married Robert A. Hodgins at Bonesteel, South Dakota. They lived in Bonesteel, Hill City, Watertown, and Pierre, before moving to Burnsville in 1973. Bob died June 13, 1995. Dollys family was her passion, and favorite things in life included going fishing with Bob, backyard birding, playing bridge, pitch, or Quiddler, and the Minnesota Twins. Her love and wit are part of us all. Survivors include her children: Barbara (George) Wood of Pierre, South Dakota, Daniel Hodgins of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Bobbi Hodgins of Burnsville, and Jane Hodgins of Bloomington, Minnesota; grandchildren: Christopher (Rebecca) Hargens of Rapid City, South Dakota, Amy Hodgins and Shane Hodgins of Covington, Louisiana; Brian Wood of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kim (Mike) Anderson of Willmar, Minnesota; great-grandson, Wyatt Anderson; and great-granddaughter, Emma Hargens, whom she was so thrilled to meet. Dolly is also survived by her brother, Lee (Leola) Halverson of Mitchell, South Dakota; sisters: Yvonne Spitzenberger of Bonesteel, Elaine (Ted) Hoffman of Aurora, Colorado, and Lois Leu, of Edmunds, Washington; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert; and brothers Allen, Mick, and Eldon Halverson.
