Diane Faye Mulder was born on August 1, 1946, to Dewey and Bernice (Vandenberg) Mulder in Volga, South Dakota.  Diane attended Volga Christian School, and graduated from Volga High School in 1964.  Diane attended Calvin College in Michigan, and later moved to southern California.  Diane married Paul J. McCarty Jr in 1979; they later divorced.  Diane returned to Volga in 1992, and began working for Bowes Construction Inc. in 1994.  She entered into retirement in 2014.

Diane had many great loves in life, including photography, reading, computers, and animals.  Diane was very computer savvy, and enjoyed typing and working on her computer.  She also had a deep love for animals, especially cats.  Throughout her life she took in many homeless animals.  Diane also enjoyed spending time at the local library and riding her bike around Volga.

Diane is survived by her two sons: Paul J. McCarty III of Belle Fourche, SD, and Delwyn J. McCarty of Volga, and one sister: Sharon Rose (Fred) Brandes, of Colorado; one brother: Sherman Wayne Mulder of Texas; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wanda Kay Mulder.
