DeLyle "Pete" Kiehn, 86, of Brookings, passed away on September 24, 2023, at the United Living Community.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the Brookings First Assembly of God in Brookings at 11:00 A.M.  Burial will immediately follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings.  A time of fellowship will follow burial at the Brookings First Assembly of God.  Visitation will be held the evening prior, Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.

Delyle Ellsworth Kiehn was born on July 21, 1937, in Oacoma, South Dakota to Henry Gus and Eleanor (Urban) Kiehn.  Pete grew up in south Chamberlain, South Dakota and attended school in a one room school until the 8th grade.  Pete continued to live in the Chamberlain area, moving to the Plankinton area in 1955, on a farm.  In 1960, Pete moved to Rapid City and began working construction.  In 1973, he moved to Brookings and began work pouring concrete on I-29 north of Brookings.

Pete was a member of Brookings First Assembly of God.  In his younger years, Pete enjoyed hunting for deer, pheasants, and geese.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's activities.  Pete loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed time spent away from the nursing home playing with his family and friend's dogs.

Pete is survived by his daughters: Sheila (Bruce) Scotting and Val (Randy) DeMers; son, Steven Kiehn; grandchildren: Ashtin (Brett), Dannielle, and David; great-grandchildren: Bradly, Zada, Benjamin; and Effie; and siblings: June, Wayne, Sharon, Sally, Denny, and Diane.

He is preceded in death by his ex-wife, Frances Kiehn; his son, Eric; close family friends Donnie and Sharon Zelenka; and siblings: Sheryl, Henry Jr., Gretchen, Janice, and Dowart.
