Delores Houtkooper, age 89 of Brookings, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, at home. Funeral Services will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings.  Visitations will begin at 12 noon at the church on Saturday until the time of the funeral.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Delores Beverly Houtkooper was born December 18, 1929, to Ole and Marie (Dokken) Anderson in Lakefield, MN. She grew up in Astoria, South Dakota, and graduated from Astoria High School.  On June 1, 1952, Delores married the love of her life, Robert Houtkooper.  They were married for over 66 years.

The couple moved to Brookings after they were married. Delores worked for John Deere, SDSU admissions and records, as secretary for First Baptist Church, Brookings County Abstract office, and as a deputy Register of Deeds for Brookings County.  She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, serving on the ladies circle and volunteering during Sunday school.  She was also a deacon for the church.  Delores enjoyed baking, cooking, reading, and needle work.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; sons, Dale (Jackie) Houtkooper, and Paul (Susan) Houtkooper; daughter, Julie (Bob) Golden; grandchildren, Olivia (Thomas) Bartholow, Colin Golden and fiancé Leah Zimmermann, and Max Golden; and great-grandson, Cooper Bartholow. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjorie Sandager; brother, Richard Anderson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
