Dellas was born in Platte, SD on September 20 th , 1960, to Myron and Rita (Howard) Cole. He attended K-12 in Platte where he was involved in 4-H along with other school activities. He graduated from Platte High School in 1978. He then moved to Brookings to attend college at South Dakota State University where he obtained a Broadcast Journalism degree. While attending college he found his dream job of doing sports play-by-play for KBRK Radio.

He married Margie Carter in Brookings, SD on June 18 th , 1998. They continued to live in Brookings and pursue their careers. Which for Dellas his career was his passion, his voice was his gift that blessed his many listeners.

Dellas didn't skip a beat and stepped up as father figure to his two stepchildren (Danielle and Dustin). Dellas and Margie's son, Drew was born November 26, 2000.  Their life had many adventures that were sports centered between kids' sporting events to Dellas doing play-by-play.  He was a sportscaster for Brookings Radio for 40 plus years and was known by most as "The Voice of the Bobcats". He received countless awards including South Dakota Sportscaster of the Year (3x), South Dakota Coaches Association Hall of Shrine, was inducted into the Bobcat Hall of Fame, was the Bobcat Backer of the year, and Michael J. Entringer Scholarship Classic Hall of Fame.

Dellas was a family guy and loved sharing stories. He especially loved bragging about his son, Drew and all his accomplishments. He had a unique way of broadcasting and would find ways to incorporate short stories about "My Bride" or "Mrs. Cole", his kids, or granddaughters on the air. His calm nature, love for sports, and quirky humor was well known across the state of South Dakota. Dellas was one of a kind.

In February of 2013, he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. This didn't stop Dellas from doing what he loved as he continued to call games. As time went on IPF and the pandemic robbed him of doing what he loved. In January 2020, he was placed on the lung transplant list. On April 22, 2021, Dellas received a double lung transplant. This selfless gift from the donor's family is what gave him more time to enjoy with family and friends. His time spent in Rochester allowed him to meet many people that left lasting impressions on him.

Dellas is survived by his wife Margie Cole; his children: Danielle (Ross) Anderson from Pierre, SD, Dustin Cole from Brookings, and Drew Cole (Cassie Munsterman) from Brookings, SD; his grandchildren: Mackennzie, Lyndzie, and Lexzie; his in-laws, James and Romelle Carter from Watertown, SD; his brother and sister-in-law, Bradley (Heather) Carter from Watertown, SD; his siblings: Arleen (Dennis) Sanger from Rockham, SD, Joline (Phil) Thomas from Freeman, SD, and Kelly Cole from Lisco, NE; and many extended family.
