Delila "Dee" Florence Davis, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings, South Dakota.  Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 2:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Brookings.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Burial will take place following the service at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the Davis family with arrangements.

Delila was born on September 14, 1928, to Harry and Ann (Vockrodt) Jepsen in Egan.  They moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where she graduated from high school in 1946.  Upon graduation from Mankato Commercial College, she began work at Citizen Loan and Investment Company.  She married Buehl (Dave) Davis on February 20, 1948.  In 1956, they moved to Brookings where she worked part time as a desk clerk at the Sawnee Hotel and then at the SDSU Bookstore until her retirement in 1993.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she participated in the Mission Quilters and Church Circle.  She was a member of the Brookings Healthcare Auxiliary where she enjoyed volunteering with the residents of the nursing home and assisting family members of surgical patients in the hospital surgical waiting room.

She so enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and there were many family get-togethers and parties.  She enjoyed her daily walks with friends, reading, working on crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and Sudoku, and the time that she and Buehl spent wintering for three months every year for 14 years in Alamo, Texas.

Delila is survived by her children: Barbara (Steve) Bublitz, of Huron, Patricia (Don) Borgen of Veblen, Michael (Debra) Davis, of Brookings, and Terri Davis of Rapid City; nine grandchildren: Michelle (Roger) Chase, Don Borgen Jr., Shelia (David) Wiethoff, Eric Bublitz, Mandy (Craig) Wadsworth, Marty (Lori) Borgen, Stacy (Joseph) Rice, Michael Davis II, Jessie (Kasey) McGriff; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Joyce (Jim) Furubotten, and Jackie (Gordy) Davis; sister-in-law Lavonne Jepsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buehl; her parents; two sisters: Betty Erickson and Dorothy McRae; two brothers: Harry Jepsen and Bobby Jepsen; in-laws, Oliver and Ann Davis; a sister-in-law Beryl Carlson; and brothers-in-law: Robert Carlson, John McRae, and Kenneth Erickson.

In lieu of flowers, the Davis family asks that memorial donations be made to the Brookings Health System Hospice Program or First Lutheran Church of Brookings.
