Obituary

Delbert W. Goldammer was born December 20, 1944, at Canova, South Dakota, to Leo and Lena (Tschirley) Goldammer. He died suddenly on Sunday, January 19, 2003, at the Brookings Hospital in Brookings, South Dakota. Delbert attended school at Canova, where he graduated from high school. After graduation, Delbert entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. While in the service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in September 1971. Delbert married Ima Jean Jerke on July 7, 1973, in Delmont, South Dakota. He worked for grain elevators in Salem, Ramona, and Elkton. Delbert was currently a welder at Twin City Fan in Brookings. He was a member of the United Parish and served on the church council. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, corresponding with friends and relatives on his computer, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ima Jean of Elkton; a daughter, Tanya (Jeff) Salzman of Sioux Falls; a son, Timothy (Cris) Goldammer of Peoria, Illinois; two grandchildren: Kellen and Riley Salzman; two brothers: Duane (Joanie) Goldammer of St. Paul, Minnesota and Lee Goldammer of Sioux Falls; five sisters: Florence (Boyd) Sturdevant of Canova, Joanne (Pete) Schulz of Canova, Shirley (Vernie) Zens of Canova, Karlene Koepsell of Canova, and Maxine (Don) Karstens of Elk River, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Eldon Koepsell.
