Dawn Peterson, 54, of Brookings, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls surrounded by her family.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings at 11:00 A.M.  Following the service there will be lunch served at the church.  A time of visitation will be held Saturday evening, February 12, 2022, at Eidsness Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.

Dawn Renee Peterson was born on August 27, 1967, in Brookings, South Dakota to Clifton and Minerva (Strohschein) Christopherson.  She spent her entire life in Brookings, graduating from Brookings High School.  Dawn was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings.  Following her education, Dawn worked as an office manager for over 20 years.

Dawn enjoyed several interests throughout her life, including boating, cooking, walking, collecting Dickens Village houses, attending Jackrabbit games, decorating her home, attending the annual Brookings Arts Festival, and spending time with her pets.  She will be remembered as a very loving and giving person.  Dawn loved spending time with her nieces and great-nieces, especially when they were able to have "girls days".  Dawn will be remembered as a star in her family, always willing to help those who needed it and having a generous spirit.  She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her friends.

Dawn is survived by her mother, Minerva Christopherson; siblings: Glenda (Gary) Pederson, Jim Chirstopherson, and Gary (Deb) Christopherson; 4 nieces and nephews; 7 great-nieces and nephews; 1 great-great-niece; aunts: Lois (Leroy) Hamann, Helen Budahl, Mary Christopherson, and Betty Strohschein; and her godparents, Carol and Lin Bergjord.

She is preceded in death by her father, Clifton Christopherson; uncles: Marlyn Christopherson, Carroll Budhal, and Doyle Strohschein; aunt, Alona Schuers; and close friend Jodi Friedel.
