David John Lees, age 57, of Brookings, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020. No services are planned at this time. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

David was born January 8, 1963, to Robert and Dorothy (Kurtz) Lees. He was the second youngest of nine children; he was one of five brothers. David spent his entire life in Brookings, except for a few years in Sioux Falls.  He graduated from Brookings High School.

After graduating from high school, David attended SDSU and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physics. He worked at Daktronics for several years, and enjoyed helping the new company develop and expand.  David then left to pursue a career in Nuclear Medicine. He completed his training in Sioux Falls.  He was excited to begin work in the field of medicine.  After completion of his schooling, he was unable to work due to the onset of health issues.  David continued to be interested in the field of medicine. He was a voracious reader on numerous topics that interested him.

He will be deeply missed by his loving family including his parents, Robert and Dorothy Lees of Brookings; siblings, Peggy Price of Longmont CO, Rebecca Belsaas (Richard) of Rapid City, SD, Mark Lees (Sue) of Fairmont, MN, Gregg Lees (Kari) of Aurora SD, Richard Lees (Connie) Brandon, SD, and Cindie Baken (Mark) of Wisconsin Dells, WI; seven nieces and nephews and two great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Getrude Kurtz and Walter and Caroline Lees, and two siblings, Roberta Rae Lees and Robert Scott Lees.
