David L. Morse, Sr., age 58, died Friday, November 12, 2004, at the Brookings Hospital in Brookings, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 18, 2004, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with interment and military graveside rites at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. David Lee Morse, Sr., was born September 21, 1946, at Brockton, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Army for 16 years. On April 4, 1974, he married Cathy Von Holdt in Germany. He moved with his family to Brookings in 1997 and attended South Dakota State University. David was an active leader in Troop 4 of the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was very family oriented, encouraging his son Harold to work for his Eagle Scout award. Survivors include his wife, Cathy Morse, of Brookings; his sons, David Jr., Thomas, and Harold; his daughter, Patricia; daughter-in-law, Stady; and his four grandchildren: Cassandra, David L. III, Allyson, and Lonnie, all of Brookings. He is also survived by three brothers: Brian, Richard, and Gary Gilmore of Massachusetts; three sisters: Donna, Janette, and Johanna, of Massachusetts; his uncle Harold Morse Jr. of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
