David R. Jorenby, age 76, of Volga died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings, South Dakota. A celebration of life will be held at The Neighborhoods at Brookview on Friday, February 6 at 3 P.M. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Lake Campbell Lutheran Cemetery. David Roger Jorenby was born to Norman and Stella (Waage) Jorenby on July 8, 1938 in Volga, SD. He attended school in Volga and graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1956. He lived on and farmed the family farm just west of Lake Campbell. He worked at the Brookings Sale Barn and T & R Electric in Colman. David was drafted in the Army on November 28, 1961. He was trained as an Infantryman and Military Police. David was honorably discharged on November 27, 1963 as a PFC in Company B 1st Battalion 52nd Infantry AD. He earned a Rifle Marksman Badge. David is survived by his brother Cliff (Lori) Jorenby of White, brother-in-law Alton Quam of Volga, sister-in-law Garnet Jorenby of Arlington, brother-in-law Jim Watt of Volga and 21 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers Lyle, Don, Carroll, Burt, and John; three sisters Betty Bovee, Margie Quam, and Sharon Luze; two nieces and two nephews.
