Daniel Lamp, 73, of Brookings, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the United Living Community. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Burial will immediately follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings. A time of visitation will be held the evening prior, Monday, June 3, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home.
Daniel Darwin Lamp was born August 7, 1950, to Darrel and Bethyl (McCuen) Lamp in Hendricks, MN. He grew up on a farm south of Brookings and attended country school, graduated from Brookings High School in 1968, and attended SDSU majoring in Mechanized Agriculture. While at SDSU, Dan served in the ROTC Air Force for two years.
Dan married Dawne Seas on September 1, 1973. They lived and farmed south of Brookings until 1984. They then moved to the Black Hills area, where Dan worked as a mechanic until moving back to Brookings in 1988. He worked at Dale's Alignment, as a truck driver delivering mobile homes, and later in the parts department at Farmer's Implement and Irrigation.
Dan was a 4-H leader, member of Bridle Estates Home Owners Association, Dakota Drifters Snowmobile Club, Friends of Baseball, Rolling Thunder, Lake Campbell Sportsman's Club, and a founding board member of Brookings Wrestling Association. He was an officer and board member in most of these organizations at one time.
Dan enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycle, car racing, softball, bowling, fishing, spending time with family and attending his kids' sporting events.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Dawne; his children, Brady Lamp of Watertown and Kali Lamp of Brookings; siblings, Greg Lamp of St. Paul, MN, Scott (Roshal) Lamp of Brookings, and Heidi (Jeff) Fischer of Brookings; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Dathan in 1982.
