Daniel Escamilla, age 30, of Brookings, died Sunday, January 1, 2006, of injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral mass was held on Monday, January 2, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Brookings. Interment will be in Guadalajara, Mexico. Daniel Escamilla was born September 16, 1975, at Guadalajara, Mexico, to Lisa (Velazco) Escamilla. He was the youngest of the family born in Mexico. He lived there for 15 years and for the last 15 years in the United States. He graduated from high school in Montebello, California. He was most recently employed as a waiter at Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant in Brookings. Daniel loved playing soccer, especially with his nephews. Survivors include his mother, four brothers, six sisters, and nieces and nephews.
